HAWAI'I SUPREME COURT AFFIRMS TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE (FINALLY!)

HONOLULU (December 9, 1999) The Hawai i Supreme Court issued its final ruling today in favor of traditional marriage advocates who had passed a constitutional amendment on November 3, 1998 by an overwhelming majority.

The High Court ruled that passage of "the marriage amendment has rendered the plaintiffs complaint moot. Therefore, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the judgment of the circuit court be reversed and that the case be remanded for entry of judgment in favor of Miike [former Dept. of Health director] and against the plaintiffs."

Alliance for Traditional Marriage-Hawaii chairman, Mike Gabbard, said, "On behalf of 70% of Hawaii voters who in November, 1998 amended our constitution preserving and protecting traditional marriage, we say mahalo nui loa (thanks very much) to God for His unconditional love and mercy upon us, and thank you to the Hawaii Supreme Court for affirming what we ve known all along that marriage, by the Supreme Person's definition, is between opposite-sex couples."

The momentous final ruling came 6 ½ years after the Supreme Court s controversial initial decision in Baehr vs. Lewin, which favored the legalization of so-called homosexual "marriage."

Gabbard said, "Hopefully people here and around the world will learn an important lesson from our victory. When people of all faiths transcend their sectarianism and work together cooperatively for a common goal, amazing things can happen. This is what I call aloha spirit in action. "

"I also hope," Gabbard said, "that our traditional marriage counterparts in Vermont, who are awaiting a decision from their Supreme Court on this same issue will take heart and be encouraged by our victory."

HOMOSEXUALISTS* DISTRIBUTE PROPAGANDA TO PUBLIC SCHOOL OFFICIALS

HONOLULU (November 24, 1999) -- A group calling itself "Just the Facts Coalition" has published and distributed a pro-homosexual 12-page booklet to 14,700 public school superintendents across the U.S.

Mike Gabbard, founder/president of Hawaii-based Stop Promoting Homosexuality International (SPHI), said, "Homosexual activists and their supporters have crossed the line. All along, we've said they're after our children, and this political, propagandistic booklet proves it. "Just the Facts" is a blatant attempt to influence education policy makers to normalize homosexuality in the public school system. It should be renamed, 'Just the Propaganda.' If this nonsense finds its way into our schools, it could be catastrophic for young people, especially those who are confused about their sexuality."

Gabbard said, "The worst thing about this pseudo-scientific pamphlet is its trashing of reparative therapy and transformational ministries. For years, the National Association of Research and Therapy on Homosexuality (NARTH) and Exodus International have been working miracles in helping thousands of people overcome their homosexual desires and feelings. By denigrating these two optional resources, the booklet denies the fact that people can change their so-called sexual orientation."

The booklet, "Just the Facts About Sexual Orientation & Youth" A Primer for Principals, Educators, and School Personnel" was developed and endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Counseling Association, American Association of School Administrators, American Federation of Teachers, American Psychological Association, American School health Association, Interfaith Alliance Foundation, National Association of School Psychologists, National Association of Social Workers, and the National Education Association.

Gabbard commented, "Sure these groups sound impressive, but if you look closely it's the same old players who have an obvious agenda-normalizing homosexuality in society. The fact is, although many of these people and organizations have the best of intentions, unfortunately they've been deceived and duped by the well-oiled, well-financed homosexual movement."

"The very fact that they are labelling kids who have homosexual tendencies as 'gay youth' is outrageous," Gabbard stated. "How can they do that knowing adolescence is such a time of emotional, physical, mental, and hormonal upheaval?"

Gabbard said, "Hopefully, parents in school districts across the country will wake up and monitor what's going on and investigate the curricula and programs to make sure this garbage doesn't get in the door."
